"Last night, I had a dream about divorce. In my dream, I came home from work. The house was quiet. Too quiet. No cooking sounds. No TV. No laughter. On the kitchen table, there was a paper. I knew what it was before I read it. Divorce papers. My wife's name was already signed at the bottom. The letters were neat and small, like she took her time. I sat down and read every word. The house. The money. The dog. Everything was divided into two halves. Like cutting an apple down the middle. I waited to feel something. Anger. Sadness. Pain. But nothing came. My heart was like a dry well. Empty. I picked up a pen. My hand did not shake. I signed my name next to hers. Just like that. Ten years of marriage, finished with one signature. The door opened. My wife walked in with a suitcase. She looked at the paper. Then at me. "That's it?" she asked. "That's it," I said. My voice was flat, like a machine. She nodded, took her suitcase, and left. The door closed with a soft click. Not even a loud bang. I stood alone in the kitchen. The clock on the wall ticked and ticked. I made myself a cup of tea. I drank it slowly. It tasted like nothing. Then I woke up. I reached over and touched my wife's back. She was there. Warm. Breathing. Real. Still, the dream scared me. Not because of the divorce. But because I felt nothing at all."
