The gold Ring in the drawer

"I was looking for something in a drawer, but I can't remember what it was. There were old receipts, coins, and some things I haven't seen in years. Under a piece of paper I found a gold ring. I put it on without really thinking about it. It fit perfectly, even though I don't remember ever owning it. For some reason I became worried that someone would see it. I went into the kitchen and tried to take it off, but my finger felt swollen and the ring wouldn't move. Then I was suddenly sitting in a car, still staring at my hand. A woman beside me asked where I got the ring. I tried to answer, but I couldn't remember. When I looked again, the ring was gone. There was only a faint mark around my finger. I woke up still rubbing that finger, feeling like I had lost something important."
