The Basement Growl: Facing the Shadow Within Meaning & Interpretation

"I was alone in my house. The lights went out. I heard a noise from the basement. It was a low growl. I did not want to go down. But my feet walked by themselves. The stairs were old and creaky. Each step made a sound. It was very dark. I could not see anything. Then I felt hot breath on my neck. I turned around. Two red eyes stared at me. A voice whispered, "You should not have come." I tried to run up the stairs. They kept getting longer. I ran and ran. The top never came. The red eyes followed me. They got closer. I felt claws on my shoulder. I screamed. I woke up in the dark. My room was quiet. But I heard the same growl. It came from under my bed."
