Pantsless in home Improvement store: Measuring Up and feeling Exposed

"I was standing near the register at a big home improvement store holding a long yellow plastic tape measure, waiting to ask an employee where they kept the outdoor extension cords. The store was really bright and smelled like fresh-cut lumber and fertilizer. I reached down to put the tape measure in my pocket, but I didn't have pockets because I was completely bare from the waist down--just wearing a dark green t-shirt and my sneakers. Nobody around me seemed to care at all. An old guy in a flannel shirt walked past pushing a cart full of PVC pipes, and a cashier was just scanning bags of soil without looking up. I wasn't terrified or panicking, just deeply baffled by how I'd managed to walk out of the house like that without noticing.
