The uncontrollable Sedan on a dark Highway

"I was driving my old sedan down a dark highway trying to get to a dentist appointment in another town, but the steering wheel kept turning soft like rubber in my hands. every time I stepped on the brake pedal, it just went flat to the floorboard and the car kept gliding forward, picking up speed past all these exits i couldn't read. I kept staring at the dashboard because the speedometer numbers were just counting backward from zero, and this cold, suffocating terror took over my chest. I tried to pull the emergency brake, but when I reached down, it was just a plastic spoon. then suddenly I was in the backseat while the empty car was steering itself through a muddy cornfield in total silence, and I couldn't reach the front to grab the wheel. my heart was pounding so hard I could barely draw breath, just waiting for the crash that never came."
