The unlikely Gathering in My yard

"I look out the window and there's a deer. Just standing on my lawn. And behind the deer there's a fox. And behind the fox there's like six rabbits and a raccoon and somebody's escaped parrot. All just. Hanging out. In my yard. Like it was a meeting. I went outside. Because I wanted to see. And they all looked at me. Every single one. Turned their heads at the same time. And then went back to whatever they were doing. The deer was eating my bushes. The fox was just sitting. The raccoon was on my grill. On my grill. My neighbor walked by with his dog and the dog didn't even bark. Just walked past the whole thing. And my neighbor waved at me and I waved back and he didn't say anything about the deer or the fox or the raccoon on my grill. And I stood there going "okay." Just. Okay. I woke up and checked the yard. Nothing. Just grass. But I thought about it all morning. The way they all looked at me at once. Like they knew something."
