"I was inside some house that mostly felt like mine, and a crow landed hard on the windowsill, cawing loud, over and over, way louder than a crow should be able to get. tried ignoring it and the sound just kept building, filling the whole room somehow. I went to check and there wasn't just one anymore, several perched along the sill and the roofline outside, all facing in, all silent now except that first one still going. my chest got tight watching them, no clear reason why it felt so wrong, just did. I tried closing the curtain and my hands were clumsy, fumbling, and when I finally got it shut I could still hear the cawing through the fabric, closer than it should carry. house felt smaller all of a sudden, walls tighter. I checked another window and more of them were there too, that same still watching, and I backed away into a hallway that kept going longer than it should. woke up with my heart still going fast, half listening for that cawing before I realized it was quiet."
