"I dreamed I was in my childhood bedroom and kept hearing this soft scraping under the floor. At first I thought it was the house settling, but then a little green snake poked its head through a gap near my bed. I jumped back and suddenly there were snakes everywhere—coming out from under the dresser, the closet, even the heating vent. They weren't all the same. Some were tiny and harmless-looking, but a few were huge, thick ones that moved too fast. I remember standing on my bed because I didn't want them touching my feet. My old dog was there too, just sniffing at them like they were normal. At some point I was in the hallway and the floor was covered in snakes, but nobody else in the house seemed to care. My mom told me to stop making noise because the neighbors were sleeping. I woke up before one of the big ones reached the bed, and I kept checking the floor for a while after I got up."

Fear often speaks in whispers from beneath the floor of ordinary life, and when it finally surfaces, it can feel like it is everywhere at once. Yet the dream shows that not all snakes are threats, and not all calm is wisdom. The real invitation is to listen to your own alarm without shame, even when the house around you pretends everything is fine.
