"I was in the backyard of a house I didn't recognize when I saw a snake curled up near the steps. I grabbed a long stick because I was scared it might come toward me. Then I noticed more snakes hiding under the plants, and one was crawling toward the back door. I started hitting them with the stick, even though I felt bad doing it. I just wanted them away from the house. One snake kept slipping out of sight, no matter how many times I tried to catch it. I remember shouting for someone to help, but nobody answered. Then suddenly I was holding a shovel, and the yard looked like the garden at my childhood home. I killed the last snake and stood there breathing hard, waiting for another one to appear. The silence felt strange. When I woke up, I still had that tight feeling in my chest, like the danger hadn't really gone away."
