"I dreamed I was cooking rice in my mother's kitchen, but I couldn't remember who was coming over to eat. I poured rice into a big pot, and somehow it kept filling up even after I stopped pouring. I tried to stir it, but the spoon was too short and kept disappearing under the rice. Then I noticed grains spilling over the edge and falling onto the floor. I bent down to clean them up, but there were suddenly piles of rice everywhere, even on the stairs. My mother walked in and asked why I was wasting food. I felt embarrassed and tried to explain, but I couldn't get the words out. Then the kitchen turned into a rice field, and I was walking barefoot between rows of green plants. A little boy handed me a bowl of cooked rice and smiled like he knew me. I woke up wondering why something as ordinary as rice had felt so strange and important."
