The house I forgot I owned

"i was driving down this winding, sunlit road trying to return an old lawnmower to my uncle, but the road just ended at the driveway of this huge, beautiful house i'd never seen before. it had tall windows and this dark oak front door that was wide open, like someone was expecting me. i walked inside and immediately had this overwhelming feeling that it was actually mine--that i had bought it years ago and just totally forgot i owned it. the floors were made of this warm, polished wood that echoed when i walked, and every room i went into was bigger than the last, filled with soft light streaming through huge curtains. i kept running from room to room, opening double doors and finding all these hidden sunrooms and balcony patios overlooking a quiet forest. my heart was just racing with this pure, giddy excitement. then suddenly i was standing in a tiny, cramped kitchen at my old high school trying to pack a lunch, but I was still holding the heavy brass key to the front door in my hand, smiling so hard because i knew i was going back there as soon as the day was over."
