"I'm at a party talking to people. And I notice nobody has eyes. Just smooth skin. Where the eyes should be. And I'm looking around and everyone's just talking, drinking and laughing, with no eyes. And I'm the only one who has them. I tried to get someone's attention. Anybody. And I'm pointing at my own eyes going "look, look" and they just smiled at me. With that eyeless smile. And said "what?" And I said "nothing." And backed away. I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and my eyes were gone too. Just. Smooth skin. And I touched my face. Where they used to be. And there was nothing there. And I wasn't scared. I was relieved. Actually relieved. Like I'd been the last one holding something heavy and finally got to put it down. I woke up and my hands went to my face. Eyes. There. Both of them. I got up and looked in the mirror and stared at them. Just. Looked. For a while. And all day I kept blinking. Just to feel it. Just to make sure they still closed."

Jungian Analysis
Core Theme

"This dream reflects a surrender of the burden of seeing and being seen, where the loss of eyes becomes a relief from the exhausting role of the sole witness. It suggests a deep ambivalence between the fear of losing perception and the freedom from constant vigilance."

Hidden Emotions and Symbols

✦ Eyes

Represent the burden of perception, awareness, and the isolating role of being the only one who truly sees.

✦ Smooth Skin

Reflects a state of seamless conformity and the erasure of individual vision in a collective.

✦ Party

Indicates a social setting where superficial interaction masks a deeper blindness and shared avoidance.

✦ Mirror

Signifies self-reflection and the moment of recognizing one's own transformation into the eyeless norm.

✦ Relief

Indicates the liberation from the weight of constant seeing and the pressure to bear witness.

Wisdom

The dream shows that the fear of losing your eyes is also the secret wish to lay down the heavy gift of seeing. True sight is not only about perceiving the world but also about knowing when to close your eyes and rest. The relief you felt was not a loss but a release; the waking blink is a reminder that vision is a rhythm, not a sentence.
