"I was at a shopping mall with my son, and I remember him asking me to buy him something, but I can't remember what it was. I told him to wait while I looked in my bag for my wallet. When I looked up, he was gone. I started calling his name and checking every shop, but people kept walking past me like nothing was wrong. Then I saw him at the end of a long hallway, wearing a little jacket he hasn't had for years. I ran toward him, but the hallway seemed to stretch farther away. I was getting so upset that I could barely shout. Suddenly, I was standing in my childhood kitchen, and my son was sitting at the table eating cereal as if he'd been there all along. I hugged him really tightly. He looked at me strangely and asked why I was crying. I woke up with that awful feeling still in my chest."

Core Theme

"This dream reflects a parent's deepest fear of losing a child, blending the disorienting panic of a public place with the surreal comfort of a childhood home. The shifting settings and the son's outdated jacket suggest that the dream is processing anxieties about change, memory, and the passage of time, ultimately offering a moment of reunion that feels both healing and heartbreaking."

Insight

The dream captures the universal terror of losing a child, but also the deep well of love that pulls you back to what matters. The shift to your childhood kitchen suggests that the fear is rooted in your own past, and the hug you give your son is also a hug for the part of you that still needs reassurance. The strange look he gives you reminds you that your child sees you clearly, even in your most vulnerable moments, and that connection can transcend time and space.
