Dream of Ex and childhood Home: Unresolved love and avoidance

"I dreamed that my ex and I were together again. There wasn't a big conversation or anything. In the dream we were just suddenly back to normal, like the breakup had been a weird rumor nobody believed. We were sitting in a restaurant I didn't recognize, sharing fries. He kept taking the crispy ones before I could get them, which annoyed me, but I was also weirdly relieved because it felt familiar. I wanted to ask why we had gotten back together, but every time I started, the waiter came over. Then we were at his place, except it looked like my childhood house. I found some of my clothes in a drawer, even though I knew I had never lived there. He was in the other room talking to someone on the phone, and I got nervous because I thought he might be talking about me. I asked who it was, but he acted like I hadn't said anything. He just came over and put his arm around me. Later, we were supposed to be going somewhere together, maybe a party. I was looking for my shoes and he was already waiting outside. I could see him through the window, but he kept getting farther away without moving. I woke up before I found my shoes. I felt sad for a second, then mostly confused about why it seemed so real."
