"I was in my living room during a storm, but the windows were open even though rain was coming in sideways. Every time lightning flashed, the whole room went white for a second, and I could see shapes outside that weren't there when the light faded. I kept telling myself to close the windows, but I couldn't make myself move. Then lightning hit somewhere close—maybe the roof, maybe the yard—and the power went out. Except the TV stayed on, showing static with a person standing in it, just barely visible. I went to the kitchen for my phone and the lightning was suddenly inside, running along the ceiling like a bright crack. It didn't burn anything. It just made this low buzzing sound and lit up the hallway. I remember thinking I should unplug something, though I had no idea what. I woke up right before it reached me, with my ears still ringing a little."

The lightning that does not burn but buzzes is a reminder that some forces are not meant to be shut out—they are meant to be felt, understood, and integrated. Your paralysis may be a pause before a necessary surrender to a power that is both frightening and enlightening.
