The table at the window

"So he's cheating on me. In the dream. I just know it. And I'm following him. Not in a sneaky way, just walking behind him down the street, and he doesn't know I'm there, and he goes into this restaurant. Nice place. Candles. Tablecloths. And I'm standing outside the window watching him sit down across from someone. And the whole time I'm thinking "he never takes me here." That was it. That was the whole feeling. Not betrayal. Not heartbreak. Just "he never takes me here." I stood at that window for a while. Long time. And I watched them order. I couldn't see who the other person was. Just a shape. A blur. And I didn't care about the blur. I cared about the restaurant. I went in eventually. Just walked in. And I sat down at their table, pulled up a chair, and he looked at me and I looked at him and the other person was gone. Just. Not there. And I said "why don't you ever take me here" and he said "I didn't think you'd like it" and I said "I've never been here. How would I know." And he didn't have an answer. And we just sat there. Both of us. At this table with a candle and no menus. And I woke up before anything else happened. Lay there in the dark next to him, actually next to him, he was right there, breathing.
