The call in the grocery Store

"I dreamed I got a call telling me my mom had died, but I was in the middle of a grocery store and couldn't leave because I had a full cart and no way to pay. That part felt strangely important, like I had to finish checking out before anything else could happen. I kept trying to call her back anyway. My phone wouldn't work right—the screen kept showing other people's conversations, then a photo of her kitchen from years ago. I remember thinking, very calmly, that I should sit down, but there was nowhere to sit except a display of paper towels. Then I was at her house, except it looked different, and she was there making coffee like nothing had happened. I didn't tell her about the call. I just stood in the doorway crying and she kept asking if I wanted sugar. I woke up before I could hug her, and it took me a minute to remember she was okay."
